To Me at 16 | Clare
When the #TweetYour16YearOldSelf made its rounds on the accounts of my friends on Twitter, I decided that it would be nice to make a blog entry about the topic. There are definitely a lot of things that I would have wanted my 16-year-old self to know back then that I know now. Here are some of them:
1. A few years from now you will undergo a lot of trying times but NEVER LOSE FAITH. There will be many times when you’ll feel like wanting to give up on life and on your faith but hold on and hang on, you may feel like you have nowhere to turn and that things won’t get better but they will eventually.
2. Do not be fooled by how the media and other people define love. YOU MAY THINK YOU KNOW WHAT LOVE IS BUT YOU DON’T — NOT YET ANYWAY. Don’t rush into relationships. That’s all I can say about that.
3. Three years from now a friend will convince you it’s OK to eat as much as you can when you want to. Don’t believe it. You’ll carry the habit for years and make you sick. Keep on eating healthy and exercising. Your body will thank you for it!
4. You may want to be grown up and do as much as you can without them but if I were you, I’D SPEND MORE TIME WITH MY PARENTS. In a few years your mom will be working abroad and will stay there a decade and your father will be gone before you even meet someone and get married. Enjoy as much time with your parents as you can, you won’t regret it.
5. I know you’re excited to start and graduate from college so that you can work and earn your own money but please, ENJOY BEING A STUDENT & BEING YOUNG WHILE YOU CAN. Earning your own money is good, but I promise you, years from now you will look back and miss how easy life was as a student. Enjoy your youth while you still have it.
