The Singing Footballer Update | Clare Henney
I was pleasantly surprised to a get a positive response to my last post inviting Azkal and Kaya FC player Nate Burkey to a sing-off. Here’s what his mom said to me via Twitter:
To say that the response from him mom encouraged me to try contacting Nate himself with a link to my post would be an understatement. One evening, I noticed that he was on Twitter and sent him the link. The response was, again, very promising. My friends, naturally, all got excited about the response. I couldn’t help but reply to Nate and that got an even more exciting reply: So as it turns out, his mother had already mentioned my blog to him. I felt very flattered to have even been a part of the conversation he had with his mom. I like that he gave such an encouraging reply — I hope that we do get to do the sing-off eventually. I wish it would be an easy thing to set up but considering that I have work in the province and he has football (and modelling, as I’ve seen him do from time to time), it will be a challenge. Still, I hope that it will happen. I can’t but wonder what types of songs he likes to sing. I don’t want to be caught off-guard that he actually sings something crazy like death metal or belts out like Pavarotti or something. What exactly do you like to sing Nate? The cutest reply of all, however, was the last one. My friend sent me a tweet that Nate was tweeting song lyrics so I jokingly asked him if he was already practising for our sing-off. Here’s what he said:
Cute right? I don’t know when and where we can work this out, but it would definitely be a blog-worthy moment. I’m looking forward to it, whenever that will be.
