The Bubs | Clare Henney
Velvet Channel has been airing season 1 of The Sing-Off hosted by Nick Lachey and I have become a fan of the group The Beelzebubs, otherwise known as The Bubs. Here is a video of them with their first performance that really made me stop and notice them:
I love how they make the whole concept of acapella singing more entertaining. They bring not just talent and musicality but choreography and theatricality into their performances as well. You look at them and you don’t really expect them to be so engaging because they look like ordinary school choir (which is exactly what they are by the way, a singing group from Tufts Univerisity in the US). This particular batch of The Bubs that was part of The Sing Off were really fun to watch since they didn’t choose ballads or slow pop songs that most acapella groups do. They go for more lively songs, even songs that you wouldn’t expect like Right Round by Flo Rida. I was going through some of their videos from You Tube and I think the boys this time around are now different from the ones on the show. I’m assuming those guys graduated and are doing their own thing by now. I kind of wish they stayed as a group because that particular batch was really good. I heard the group I liked eventually got to be part of Glee — or at least their voices were: The Bubs are actually the voices of The Warblers (on the show and on the CD). Yes, they are THAT GOOD.
The new group of Bubs are still following the earlier group’s footsteps, doing performances of songs like the Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO. I heard that they have a CD. I hope I can find a copy one of these days. I’d love to have them on my playlist!
