Stories from a Country Girl: THIS is Club Fitz

One thing that I have been struggling with these past few years has been my weight. Diagnosed with thyroid disease more than ten years ago, it has been something that I have had difficulty controlling. My thyroid problems along with stress issues and emotional eating have caused me to weigh more than 60lbs from the date of my first diagnosis of hypothyroidism. I have tried so many things to lose weight from fad diets to all sorts of supplements marketed to help people lose weight. Unfortunately, nothing has been successful. However, there are two things that I enjoy doing in my attempts at weight loss: yoga and dancing.
Club Fitz is something I discovered late last year when I was looking for new workouts to try. A YouTube channel maintained by Lauren Fitz and her friend Kelsi, who are from Oklahoma, USA. Their channel features dance routines/ workouts that are relatively easy to follow and fun to do. According to their FB Page, Club Fitz was “created to help others get healthier, happier, & more active” and they aim to “try and do our part in making a positive difference in a few peoples’ lives while we are alive and well!

I have viewed many dance workouts before but something about the choreography and the over-all feel of their routines has me hooked to their videos. The music they use are songs you hear on the radio and they choreography is repetitive enough that if you get it on the first set, you will surely be able to follow for the rest of the song. Plus, the people dancing with them are real, everyday people like you and me – not stick figure or super sexy model-like women with looks that will only make you insecure. Watching “real” people dance and seeing them go through the routines makes you feel that if they can do it, so can you (huge shout out to the little girl from the earlier routines – she really inspired me to keep going!).

If anybody is looking for a good dance workout to do, I suggest checking out Club Fitz. I have shared their page with other friends and I have recommended their videos to people at the office as a workout. People who have tried it so far love it! Keep it up Club Fitz! You ladies make working out so much fun!
