Stories from a Country Girl: My Name is Clare and I'm a Book-a-holic

I have loved reading for as long as I can remember.  When I was younger, I remember being addicted to the Nancy Drew series of books. I then moved on to the Sweet Dreams and Sweet Valley High books as a teen then to other books as I got older. I used to collect so many books but I have moved homes several times in the past few years that I have found it impractical to have these books to carry around with me during every move. For that reason, I have stopped buying physical books and started purchasing eBooks instead. There are people who still prefer physical books and I cannot blame them. I love the smell of books and I have to admit: reading an actual book is still better than reading from a gadget. Thing is, I just find it more practical. I can carry a number of books with me with just a tablet when I travel and that is a plus for me. There is also a small part of me that feels the amount of power I use to read is nothing compared to all the trees that it took to make a physical book. I know that may or may not be true but that is the way my brain sees it. My only problem with eBooks are the shops where you can buy them There is no app/store that has all the books I need, not even Amazon. I often have to resort to having a variety of apps to purchase the books I want. More often than not, you cannot read the books unless you use the app you bought it from and that can get annoying when you prefer one app as an e-reader compared to the rest. Not being able to see how many physical books you have bought also means your reading list keeps getting longer and longer without you noticing it. Annoyance about e-readers aside, I do love reading books and I love doing that on my tablet. I think that reading is that one love affair that I have that will never end. I cannot get enough of all the stories I read (sometimes over and over again) and as long as there is something new out there, I know I will get curious and keep reading. I am definitely a book-a-holic — I know that’s not a real word, but that is the best way for me to describe it. Anyone else out there addicted to books like I am?
