Stories from a Country Girl: Disney, I Am VERY Satisfied With Your Care

There is only one reason why I wanted to watch Big Hero 6: Daniel Henney – the reason for the name of my blog and the male lead in every romantic fantasy my brain fabricates when it hears a love song. I have followed his career since he came out in My Lovely Sam Soon and I am very happy that he finally had something that I could watch with my niece and nephew so I can show them their future uncle (haha).

Produced by Disney, Big Hero 6 is an animated movie about a group of young inventors/superheroes out to seek justice for the death of their mentor by fighting a masked villain who stole one of their inventions. It is the story of Hiro Hamada, a robotics wunderkind. His older brother Tadashi, who inspired him to present his invention of microbots, died in a fire and caused him to go into seclusion. It was during this time that he rediscovers Tadashi’s invention, the healthcare robot named Baymax.

Hiro discovers through Baymax’ misadventures that his microbots were being reproduced by a masked man, who attacks him until he managed to escape. With the help of Tadashi’s friends and a reinforced Baymax, Hiro leads the group to defeat the masked man and save the city from being sucked into a teleportation portal.

I did not expect to love the movie since it was made for children but I did. I thought Baymax was adorable (and I would love a Baymax stuffed toy – paging Disney). He made me cry when he showed Tadashi’s test videos and when he gave himself up to save Hiro. The movie was really good, it deserved the Best Animated Feature award it got from the Oscars. I am so happy that Daniel Henney was a part of this movie, this is such a good career move for him! I am so proud!
