Stories from a Country Girl: A New Version of Me

Have any of you felt that as you grow older (and wiser, hopefully), you become newer and better (fingers crossed) versions of yourself? Here’s what I think my progress has been:

Version 1.0: The quiet little kid who preferred hanging out at the library more than anything else. The cry baby.

Version 2.0: The more outgoing and maybe slightly wild child who loved to meet people and party all night.

Version 3.0: The mellowed-out version of 2.0. Still outgoing, still enjoys going out (but more to dinner, coffee and football games than parties). “Me Time” is considered a must.

Version 4.0: This is the version I am slowly growing into: the Homebody. Fitting that it is 4.0 since I am three years away from the big 4-0.

I cannot say that I am full-on 4.0 just yet, but I know that I am well on my way to that already. These days I can’t get enough of making lists of recipes I want to try and cook. I often find myself making notes of home items I want to buy like curtains, sheets, cooking utensils and all that. I have also been thinking of ways to redecorate my room and other parts of the home, DIY being the preferred method if possible.

The fact that I’m more excited about things like that instead of shopping for new clothes or going out is a sure sign that I am going 4.0. Yes, definitely getting there…and I am liking it!  Here’s to better versions of ourselves this year! Happy New Year everyone!
