Some Closure Please | Clare
Ally McBeal was my favorite show back in the 90s. I followed that show from the first season to the very end. I loved the crazy characters, the out-of-this-world imaginary things that happen in the minds of the people in the show, the music and everything else.
One of my favorite seasons of the show was season 4, this was when I was first introduced to Josh Groban and when the character Larry was in Ally McBeal’s life. Played by Robert Downey Jr., Larry was for me THE ONE for Ally. Everything about that season led to him being the one for her. It was too bad that Larry was later written off after Robert Downey Jr. could not continue with the role due to his drug problems. Several other love interests later, the show ended with Calista Flockhart’s character ending up single.
I know that many of my friends who were fans of Ally McBeal believe that Larry was really the best fit for him. I talked to a friend about how it would be nice if they could do something to close off this story with Ally and Larry ending up together. I know that the show has been over for years but a fan like me can’t help but wish they could end this in the way all the fans wanted it to end.
Season 5 of the show showed Ally leaving to take care of her daughter. In Season 4, Larry left to take care of his son. It’s been ten years since the show ended and if we put things in that perspective, Ally and Larry’s children would be grown up now and can live on their own. Would it be too much to ask for David E. Kelley, Calista Flockhart and Robert Downey Jr (who, thankfully, is now free from the drug demons of his past) to get together to give fans a made-for-TV movie to give us some closure for these two? I know I would really appreciate that. The other fans would probably feel the same way.
Can anyone throw this idea to the powers-that-be? I’d love for this to happen!
