Slow and Steady | Clare
If you’ve read my previous post on Lady Midnight, you’d already know that I am a big fan of the Shadow Hunters series by Cassandra Clare. I’ve read the books and I’ve even seen the movie starring Lily Collins.
When I found out that the books were going to be turned into a TV series, I got excited. With the producers being active on social media from the very beginning, it was hard not to. From casting to promotional shoots to the filming of the series itself. social media was filled with updates about the show. As much as I was looking forward to it, I was also a bit worried that it might not live up to the hype and my own personal expectations.
Fortunately, the first episode was promising and as the show wore on the world that I knew from the books slowly unfolded. I have to admit that there were some moments that felt a little slow but I understand how they are trying not to force feed the story to those who haven’t read the books yet. After all it’s not just about the readers, but the ones who have no idea what this is about.
I have to admit though, there is still something lacking when it comes to the acting but I think that the ensemble is improving as the show goes along. If they keep going I feel like they will get better.
A confession before I end this: for me, the show has been all about Matthew Daddario. Seriously. When I think of the show I see his face in my mind first. That boy is just…well, for lack of a better word…beautiful. Alec Lightwood was never my favorite character from the books but with the TV show, I have to say that he is my favorite!
For people in the Philippines wondering where to watch and catch up. it’s on Netflix! Check it out and let me know what you think of the show!
