My 15 | Love. Laugh. Live.
I remember getting tagged to make a list of the 15 movies and 15 books that have made the most impact to me. I never got to make that list when I was tagged to do it but I did it for this blog so that my readers can get to know me a bit.
Cinderella – I used to watch this over and over as a kid. I memorized practically everything about this movie! My fave bit: the sing sweet nightingale part — still plays in my head when I’m cleaning at home!
The Sound of Music – This was a big part of my childhood. I loved singing along when I watched this when I was a little girl. These days it never fails to make me cry when I hear Edelweiss because my dad and I used to sing along to it when we watched it.
Annie – I’ll never forget how the kids always said: “We love you Mrs. Hannigan!”
Jesus Christ Superstar – This was my dad’s favorite. I remember how much he loved to sing along to this when we watched it every single Holy Week.
Cujo – Let me put it this way, after this movie I never looked at dogs in the same way again.
The Shining – I watched this movie every summer with my cousins. Redrum…it made me scared of Jack Nicholson for life!
Never Been Kissed – I can relate to Josie Geller in this movie. Plus this was the first time I actually noticed Michael Vartan.
Titanic – Leo+historical movie+love story= fave movie that I watched in the cinema 7 times!
Pearl Harbor – The war scenes made me cry. The story hit me so hard I couldn’t help but cry and wonder why wars have to happen.
Center Stage – I love to dance and I LOVE to watch people dance. The performances here are amazing and fun — I wish I could dance like that (especially the Higher Ground dance studio part)!
The Count of Monte Cristo – I can’t explain it. Whenever I see this movie I can’t help but watch it over and over again
A Walk to Remember – My most memorable scene from the movie is when he “rescues” her at the cafeteria when people are laughing at her. I LOVED that!
The Passion of the Christ – If any movie ever made me even more guilty of my sins and made me cry for being a sinner, this has got to be it. Just the thought of watching it is enough to give me a heavy heart but I do it anyway.
Dead Poet’s Society – I watched this for the first time in high school and it’s been a personal favorite since. Carpe diem!
Ikaw Lamang Hanggang Ngayon – There’s something about an ordinary-looking female lead ending up with the handsome leading man that will always get to me. The tsinelas scene will always be a favorite.
The Last Lecture (Randy Pausch) – The video made me cry. Reading the book that explains that last lecture even further made me cry even more.
The Alchemist (Paulo Coehlo) – It’s a great book. That’s all I can say about that.
Nancy Drew (Carolyn Keene) – I can’t pick out a specific book. I’ve ready practically every single one from the 80s and even had hard bound copies. I remember reading and wishing I was Nancy Drew every time.
The Notebook (Nicholas Sparks) – I think this was the first book to make me cry. A love like that — wow. I’d be so lucky to have someone love me like that.
The Queen of Babble (Meg Cabot) – I read this book (and the rest of the series) and I became an instant fan of Meg Cabot. She writes in the way that I always dreamed I could write. She’s the kind of writer I want to be (if I could be a writer for a living, that is).
Mister God, This is Anna (Fynn) – A book about a little girl and her thoughts about God. I loved it.
The Little Prince (Antoine De Saint Exupery) – So simple, yet so thought provoking.
Warrior of the Light (Paulo Coehlo) – I love how it can be such a handy guide to life for me. It makes a lot of sense.
The Hobbit (J.R.R. Tolkien) – I read it when I was still in grade school. To be honest, I need to read it again but what I cannot forget are all those illustrations in the book. I was so fascinated by them and that made me read it.
A Walk to Remember (Nicholas Sparks) – One of the nicest love stories ever. The movie was good too.
Elvis and Me (Priscilla Presley) – I’m an Elvis fan and I really felt for them when I read about how their love blossomed and ended. It’s a good book for an Elvis fan like me.
Romeo and Juliet (William Shakespeare) – The first from Shakespeare that I read and will always be my personal favorite from his works.
Greek Mythology – I remember it was my cousin’s book and it was black and I can’t even remember who wrote it. I just know that I became addicted to reading all the stories back when I was in grade school.
Emma (Jane Austen) – The first of the Austen books that I’ve read. I can relate a bit to Emma in terms of always wanting people to fall in love and be in love but not interested in doing it for myself. I had a phase in my life when I was like that.
The Bible – I took this for granted for so long but now that I read it daily, it has really changed my life.
