It's More Fun in the Philippines | Clare Henney

When the new campaign slogan for Philippine tourism came out I really didn’t know what to think about it. I was skeptical about people accepting it because for one, the Department of Tourism has had a lot of critics since the last slogan/logo came out. Thankfully, people seemed to be generally enthusiastic about the campaign. Sure, there were still a number of people who were dismissing the new campaign as a copy of an old 50’s campaign by Switzerland, but for the most part, everyone has joined the fun and created their own campaign photos using the slogan.

I love how people have taken to this and how it has spread over the net. Some photos may be a little bit hard for foreigners to understand (some were kind of “unless you’re Filipino you won’t get it” photos) but a lot were actually very catchy and creative. I agree with the DOT that it’s been established that if you want to visit a place it’s a given that it would be a beautiful place to stay. What would make it different would be the experience and fun is definitely an experience worth having.

As a blogger, I think that I can take part in this by simply promoting my part of the country and showing what makes it different and what makes it fun.  I used to blog about my provincial life and experiences…maybe I should do that again from time to time so that I can help with this. I know a friend of mine will be doing the same for her province.  I’m actually looking forward to her blog when she starts with it.

In my opinion, this is a good campaign.  I think that we should stop being haters and just start supporting the DOT with this instead of continuously shooting it down.  If you can do a better job, why not volunteer to do something about it to make it better?  Nothing good is going to happen in our country if all we do is complain.  We all need to work together to make it better…at least that’s what I think.
