I Need to Talk to You Shonda | Clare
After enjoying Shondaland programs such as Greys Anatomy, Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder, I had high expectations for The Catch. About a private investigator who falls in love with a con man (who eventually cons her out of her own money), the show has elements of a procedural, the glamour/fashion of Scandal and the witty lines from practically all of the Shondaland shows. By all accounts it should be a hit right? For me, not so much.
For the sake of loving other Shonda Rhimes shows, I have been giving this one a chance but it got boring for me real quick. The first episode was fine, but I feel like it has gone downhill from there. If it weren’t for the fact that I love seeing Jay Hayden on my TV, I probably wouldn’t watch it anymore. Speaking of Jay Hayden, what is up with making the confident character from the pilor into a lovesick puppy all of a sudden? I don’t get it!
I think the show has the potential to be good, but the storytelling has to amp up a little and surprise the viewers considering that it has gotten sleepy for me. Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder do crazy things with their characters and situations all the time and get away with it, I hope they can do that for this show.
Shonda (ha, as if we’re close), we need to talk over a glass of wine or something. I don’t want a show that features Jay Hayden to end after one season.
