He Could (or Can) Be Bond | Clare
I love Tom Hiddleston. There’s something about that man and they way he acts, his voice and his personality that is so attractive that I can’t help but be drawn to him and his projects. When I heard that he did the miniseries The Night Manager with Hugh Laurie (I was a fan of his show House) I knew that I had to watch it.
Based on a book by John le Carré, it is about a former British soldier recruited to enter the inner circle of an international arms dealer in an attempt to prove his business and arrest him.
Tom plays Jonathan Pine, who agrees to infiltrate Richard Roper’s (Hugh Laurie) circle because he is motivated by revenge after the death of the woman he loved, who was connected to his group.
I thought Tom showed a wide array of emotions but all in a non-over the top way. All the spying that he did made me think that he could (or can) be the next James Bond if the powers that be wanted him to. He had the tough, charming and smart guy done pat. He feels like an easier to relate to/ more approachable Bond.
Hugh Laurie, who plays the bad guy, was so creepy in this one that at one point even I was afraid of him! I totally forgot about him as House while watching this!
The show had a good mix of romance, adventure, action and spy drama. I enjoyed watching the six episodes of it. I wish there were more, but I know it would have become boring if they dragged it out longer than it should.
I hope Tom does more things like this, it suits him.
