Clare Henney: This is a Classic

One of the songs I love that originated from the 50’s is the song In The Still of the Night. I remember listening to a cover version done by the Beach Boys when I was younger and couldn’t help but like the song. From what I’ve read, there are many versions of this song which was originally recorded by the Five Satins in 1956. My favorite, however, would have to be the Boyz II Men version from the 90’s. I think this song can have a million versions through the years and it will never grow old. It’s just that kind of a song. It’s short and simple and doesn’t have that much vocal acrobatics or fancy musical riffs but it still gets to you. It’s that good. Here are the lyrics to the song: In the still of the night I held you, held you tight ‘Cause I love, love you so Promise I’ll never let you go In the still of the night In the still of the night I remember (I remember) that night in May The stars (the stars) were bright above I’ll hope and I’ll pray To keep your precious love Well before the light Hold me again With all of your might In the still of the night In the still of the night So before the light Hold me again with all of your might In the still of the night In the still of the night In the still of the night
