Clare Henney: Tablet Dilemma

If there’s one thing that I’d really like to have right now, it’s the Kindle 3. I’ve read about it from Joei’s blog and after reading Aya’s tweets about it, I’m just convinced that this is something that would be very useful to me since I love to read. The good thing about the Kindle for me is that it would help me to be able to purchase the books I want to read at lower prices and I don’t have to kill any trees for it. It will also help me to save up on space because my bookshelf is full as it is already. It may be a big purchase at first but when I start buying books in digital format I’m pretty sure the savings will follow. When I think about it buying the Kindle 3 at around P6, 700.00 is not that bad. There are mobile phones that are pricier than that! At first I wasn’t sure if it was a good buy since it would mean purchasing it online directly through Amazon and I’m very hesitant about using my credit card online. Fortunately I found out that there are enterprising Pinoys who sell the Kindle locally who purchase online and then resell it. They do most of their sales via bank deposits, which for me is a better and safer option on my end.
I’d like to think that I’m a careful buyer when it comes to ordering from online sellers. I try to read up on these people and study their sites to make sure they are legitimate before I make an order. I found one person who I’m thinking of buying my Kindle 3 (and accessories) from, Leesa of Ebookna on Multiply and Facebook.
I was going to order recently but had to put my Kindle dreams on hold. Just when I was about to place my order, someone close to me came up to me for financial help and I just couldn’t say no. Then the air-conditioning unit needed repairs. Ditto with the washing machine. What can I say? Life happens! I know that Kindle will make it my way eventually but it’s just not going to happen right now.
Unfortunately, this wait is making me confused. I just recently heard about the Nook. I’ve also been reading about the Samsung Galaxy Tab and it’s getting interesting. The iPad 2 is tempting too. At this point I don’t know which one I REALLY want. They all seem good to me.
Can someone just buy me one of the three as a gift so that I don’t have to decide?
