Clare Henney: Survivor: The Philippines

This week I got the chance to see the first episode of the latest season of Survivor that was shot here in the Philippines. I’ve been following the show since the first season and having the castaways who were sent home because of injuries back on this round made me curious about how the game will go. Another thing that made me curious about the show was seeing a familiar face from my childhood: Lisa Whelchel, who played the beautiful Blair Warner on the show The Facts of Life.  Before Gossip Girl there was already a Queen B in the 80s and this lady was it.
I used to watch that as a little girl in the 80s and I always thought that she was the prettiest girl I have ever seen.  I wondered what happened to her because I didn’t see her in anything after the show.  It turned out that she quit the business and became a motivational speaker.  Just like any other fan of the show, she had been following Survivor for years and wanted to give it a shot. So far though, I have the feeling that Lisa won’t last long on the show because she hasn’t been interacting with her team that much and that might just be a reason for them to vote her out eventually.  I hope that she changes her game so that she could stay longer. I’m expecting a lot of things from the show with this whole three tribe concept. I hope that they have a lot more twists to surprise not just the players but the viewers too. The first episode hasn’t given me anything to rave about yet (except for the fact that the shots of the water and the islands look amazing) but hey, it’s only the first episode.  I’m content with giggling with how everyone pronounces the tribe names for now.
