Clare Henney: Royal AcaBelles
I’ve been a fan of acapella and vocal harmonies for as long as I can remember. I used to be a big fan of boy bands and girl groups in the 90s because the popular ones featured good harmonies and sometimes even acapella sections in their songs. When the singing competition The Sing Off started, I followed it regularly. This was all before acapella became popular because of the movie Pitch Perfect. My Facebook newsfeed had this and I could not help but become a fan of the Florida State University AcaBelles because of their version of the song Royals. Here is the version of the song from the original artist. It’s still good, but I think that the AcaBelles did a better job: I think that there are so many amazing acapella groups that people need to be introduced to. One of the former winners of The Sing Off, Pentatonix, is a good example of that: I wish they’d air The Sing Off here again. I miss it!
