Clare Henney: October 2012

When I heard that Stallions FC was bringing two guys from CF International de Madrid, the Spanish team that played a friendly with the Philippine Azkals early this year, I got excited. No, it’s not because these two guys are good-looking (even if they are) but because bringing in these guys who are from a third division club in Spain is an interesting prospect. For one, they could show their level of play and fans can compare this to the other players in the UFL.  If there’s not much difference, I suppose that could mean that Philippine football is really improving.  On the other hand, if there is a difference (particularly if they are indeed better), they could help other players improve their game just by seeing how they play and adjusting to that.
