Clare Henney: November 2009
Cookies and Cream is my favorite ice cream flavor. I remember way back when there was still a 2001 Flavors Ice Cream place I would always order a combination of vanilla ice cream and Oreos because the actual ice cream flavor didn’t exist yet.
I know that there are different Cookies and Cream versions depending on the brand of ice cream but I prefer Selecta’s the best. I also love the Hershey’s Cookies and Cream bar (and nuggets).
With all the Cookies and Cream love you can imagine how excited I was to hear about the Cookies and Cream cake from Red Ribbon. Naturally, as soon as I had the chance, I went to try it. Too bad I was disappointed.
The cake wasn’t that Cookies and Cream-ish for me. Texture-wise, I didn’t like it either. Too foam-like for my taste. And I don’t know if it was meant to be like that, but the Oreos weren’t the least bit crunchy. In fact, they were too soft that they were like icing. Part of me hopes that maybe I just had a bad version of the cake, but after the first experience with it, I can’t even bring myself to try it again. To think that I had intended to buy a whole cake if I had liked the slice.
