Clare Henney: My Samsung Wish List
There was a time when my gadget wish list comprised of Sony products. This was before I realized how much of a hassle it was for me to have my Sony products repaired when I had problems. It just wasn’t practical for me.
I discovered Samsung when I first bought a D900i phone. When I shifted to Samsung, I never looked back. Every phone since then has been a Samsung. I’ve been very happy with the quality of their products and their service centers and I’ve been a fan of the company since.
Through the years I’ve owned 6 Samsung phones, own a Galaxy Tab 2 and I am currently typing this entry on my two-year old RC420 Samsung laptop (something I’ve NEVER had problems with by the way).
With the holiday season around the corner and in the spirit of throwing ideas out to there in case Samsung would be generous enough to reward a loyal customer, I now share with everyone my Samsung wish list!
1. LA32D550K7R LED TV I love TV. I am a certified couch potato. I even wait for most movies on cable or when they are available on video. What I like about this TV is that it’s a slim TV even if it is 32″. With this HD TV I can share the video with my other Samsung gadgets and watch movies and other videos via USB. The TV also features Dolby sound and an auto volume leveler — which will be useful to someone like me with a cable TV service that has different volumes for every channel. Being an environmental dweeb, when I saw the label “Planet First,” I knew this was the TV for me. I know it’s not a Smart TV (those are way too expensive for my taste — besides, I prefer the TV remain a TV) but I like this one. 2. RAC Window System AW07LHB Air Conditioner Yes, I am aware that choosing household appliances reveals my age but what can I do, I am turning 37 in a couple of months. I am old! I’ve always wanted to buy an AC unit for our downstairs entertainment room. This house we live in already had a place for a window type AC when we bought it so it’s the most practical choice. With a sleep mode, 4-way air direction, ventilation control, anti bacteria coating and 11.5 energy efficiency (ding! ding! ding! perfect for an environmentally-conscious person like me!), this for me is the perfect choice.
3. Samsung DP700A3D PC
Everyone in my family has a laptop or PC that they use for whatever they need but I’d love to have one PC for the entire family and I think this one is perfect. It is a touch screen PC (Windows 8) but it also has a hand feature technology that allows you to control it with hand gestures in front of the monitor. I love that in spite of how wide it is, the monitor/PC is still very slim considering that it holds a 1TB hard drive, 8GB memory, a separate 1GB graphics card, Dolby sound, a webcam, Wifi, bluetooth and an Inter Core i5 processor. I’m sure my sister, who works online, would love to tinker with this one for her job. My niece and nephew would love the touch screen feature too.
4. NP500P4C Laptop
A PC for the family and a new laptop for me. Why do I like this one? It’s Intel Core i7 with 2GB graphics and 4GB memory. It has a 1TB HDD and a backlit keyboard (perfect for when I write at night!). It also has tilting legs so that the bottom won’t overhead and I can type easier. Big plus is the energy-saving auto power off feature. But best of all — I can have it in pink!!!
5. CLP-415N Color Laser Printer
Of course, a laptop and a PC at home would need a printer. I’ve found myself leaning more into laser printers because they won’t smear and I heard that in the long run they are more cost-efficient compared to inkjet printers so this is something I’d love to have. Samsung’s color laser printer looks fairly easy to operate (not just the printing part but the toner replacement part too) so that’s a big plus. I love that they have an anti-paper jam roller — that is something that always ticks me off about inkjet printers (I’d rather not say the particular brand, haha). My eco-friendly side favors this one because it is said to be one of the most energy efficient of their printers of this type. I know I could save on buying colored cartridges by just buying a black laser printer but that would be boring — I’d love to print colors too! How I wish that this was something I could afford but turns out I can’t at the moment so for now I can only dream of owning one. Eek, how geeky did that just sound?!
6. Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Tablet Owning a laptop may be convenient but having a tablet as well would be even better because it is more portable. The Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 has an S Pen and is very thin and light. I like the back design of this one. Doesn’t seem that much like plastic even if it is. This tablet has an 8MP rear cam and features a 16GB memory that can be expanded to up to 64GB with external memory. It also has a full HD playback which would be great for when I want to watch videos online. For some reason, the size and the S Pen just draws me to this particular model of Galaxy Tabs. I already own a Tab 2 7.0 but with my brother-in-law using it while he works abroad, it would be great if I can have a tablet I can use so that I don’t keep draining my phone (which is a Samsung Mega, in case you want to know).
8. SMART CAMERA NX300 Last but definitely not the least, I want a Samsung Galaxy Smart Camera NX300. I think I first saw this on the Korean drama Missing You and I went online to find out what model it was immediately. This camera has a wide range ISO, smart modes/filters, a tilt display, HD video, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4, as well as touch and key options for controls. It has WiFi too so you can easily upload photos online after you take them. The look of the camera is very vintage — I love that! I currently own a similar camera from Sony that I’ve had for years (because at the time Samsung didn’t have these types of cameras) but this is definitely better. How I wish I waited a little before buying my camera! Well, that’s it. My 7 Samsung Products Wish List. Did you see anything you like?
