Clare Henney: My Multiply Experience
I’ve had an account with Multiply since its early days when it was introduced to me by my sister. I like how I can file all my personal photos and videos on the site and only allow access to selected people. If I did keep an album somewhat public, I could also view which users viewed my account. I think it started off as a social networking site but it has spinned off into an online shopping network. I still use the account to keep my photos with a premium account but recently I’ve also tried to shop there as well. Online shopping is something that I have always been scared of. For one thing you can’t see the other person and just because of that you’re not sure if you will get the product you ordered after paying for it. If you have problems with the product, it will also be difficult because you’re not face to face with the person you bought it from. Still, for the sake of giving things a try at least once, I made a few purchases on Multiply. I made sure to try only with the certified Trusted Sellers, just to be safe. I decided to buy a few things that were not that expensive as a test to see which stores I can count on. First were a pair of Aurislim Earrings from Multiply’s own Discounted Deals section. I bought it along with a box of detox pads. I received the shipping information three days after my purchase and then got the product two days after that. They also shipped it for free, which is a plus for me. As for how effective the products are, give me a few weeks to post a review. I still need some time to test it.
Next I bought a bunch of inexpensive products from Little Emily Shop. I got the Sundepil Hair Remover, Mascara guide (because I am a major fail in that department), two sets of Korean sponge curlers and a Nose Up Reshaper (yes, you read that right…wouldn’t hurt to give it a try). I got all that for P175.00, which is a pretty good deal. Free shipping too. Again, for reviews, you’d all have to wait until I actually try everything. I liked that this shop sent me the shipping information the fastest, on the day the purchase was made. I didn’t have to worry if I was sure that I was going to get my product. Five days later, I got everything!
I also bought a pair of glasses from Paterno Street Eyewear. Just some fashion glasses. At P250.00 though I kind of wish that it would be made of better material (both the frame and the lens itself). The other pair of glasses I bought at a much lower price actually seemed better. Paterno also charged me for shipping of this one, in case anyone wants to know.
Paterno sent me the shipping information the day after I made the purchase and the product arrived two days after that.
The other pair of glasses I got was from Easy Fashion. Aviator-style glasses worth P200.00 that I got three days after I made the purchase. I had to pay for shipping but it wasn’t that big a deal after what happened. Thing is, when I got the product, I didn’t have any problem with it until three days later when the film on the lens started to peel. I immediately informed the store and I was surprised to get my response — a new and better pair delivered the very next day! I was very happy about that!
Now this last store, All About Mine, I have a bit of an issue with. I got confused with their Buy Now button. Apparently it will only charge 50% of the total cost of the product. The wallet I purchased according to the page was P545.00, which turned out to be just half the cost of the product. I really don’t get why they’d just charge 50% when they could have just charged the entire thing at that initial purchase.
I asked the seller why I was not getting info on when my product would be sent but was told I needed to pay the balance BUT never told me where to pay it. I tried looking for it on their page but can’t find it either. I got a message asking me to fill up a form (which I did) which says that my shipping will be free — which is weird since shipping was charged to me when I made my “downpayment.” Even with the form I filled up, I still don’t know where to pay the “balance.” I’m actually wondering if I should because everything just seems so weird. So right now I don’t know if my P545 was thrown away with this purchase or if I still have a chance of getting the wallet I purchased and already paid shipping for. The store’s latest post says they can’t order from their supplier because of the whole Philippines-China international issue thing. Is this P545.00 down the drain? I’m beginning to think yes. I hope that store/seller will prove me wrong.
