Clare Henney: Ice Cream Cravings

They really need to stop playing those Selecta Ice Cream Hershey’s Collection commercials. I can’t stop thinking about the ice cream with the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups!

Has anyone tried that new Selecta flavor yet? I haven’t been able to find any when I go to the store because it’s usually the more common flavors that are for sale but I’d really like to taste that new one! I wish there was some place where I could order it by the scoop since I only want to try it. It’s disappointing that I can only find it in the1.5 gallon container.  It’s not like I could eat all that ice cream – no one else in the family likes Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups!  If I bought it I’d have to eat all of it! Couldn’t they sell in it those smaller cups (instead of the pint) too?

Speaking of ice cream, a brand that I miss is the Coney Island one. I used to have so much of that when I was a child because there was a scooping station near our home. Unfortunately when I grew up that place just disappeared. I often wondered about that until I read online that the brand was sold to Purefoods and hasn’t been in the market in years.

I recently learned that the original owners of Coney Island also own Go Nuts Donuts — and that Go Nuts sells ice cream. It may not be the same brand anymore but since it’s from the same owner, I wanted to try it to see if it’s like the ice cream I used to love as a child. I’ve been to Go Nuts several times and have bought donuts there over and over again but I’ve never tried their ice cream because I didn’t even know that they had any!

Sadly, when I got the chance to go to Go Nuts again, I learned from the people there that they have phased out the ice cream already.  That’s too bad.  I really wanted to try it.  I guess now my craving will have to be limited to just for the Selecta Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups ice cream. Has anyone out there tried the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups ice cream? If you have please leave a comment and let me know what you think!
