Clare Henney: Contour, Contour, Contour!

There’s one word that I think about when I see Connie Sison on TV: contouring. The first time I saw her on TV on GMA 7 I used to wonder what was wrong with what I was seeing. I know she’s a beautiful woman and that she does her job well but I thought there was something wrong and I just couldn’t put my finger on it. I finally realized what was wrong when my mom blurted out that her makeup reminds her of clown makeup. That was it! I remember an episode of the now-defunct QTV show The Sweet Life where former beauty queen/model Abbygale Arenas did a video instructional on the importance of contouring when putting on makeup. I wish Connie Sison (or her makeup artist) watched that show.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not the best person to talk to when it comes to makeup. I have my makeup days and I have my totally devoid of makeup days — and I have more of the latter than the former. I can’t do the whole contouring thing right but I do try. I see the point of doing that instead of just one even cake of makeup all over my face that produces that clown-like look.

I’m normally not much of a critic but I couldn’t help but comment on Connie Sison’s makeup because I think she should do something about it. After all, she is paid to be on national TV so it’s natural that she should do her best to look good. Nothing against her personally, but I just think she should do something about that.
