Clare Henney: August 2010
When it comes to Sunday afternoon programming, I have always been a loyal Kapuso. When SOP started waning near the end, I switched to ASAP a couple of times but it just wasn’t the same. So when SOP ended and Party Pilipinas began, I was hopeful that the show would become better.
At first, Party Pilipinas wasn’t living up to my expectations. But after a while they started coming up with themes for every episode and things started to pick up. I started liking the production numbers and enjoyed watching the show again. I love how they are putting in more energy in the numbers to the point of making singers like Kyla and Rachel Anne Go hang in mid-air for some daring performances. I love that they get Jaya to sing more upbeat numbers (after Sunday after Sunday of ballads and birit performances in SOP that was so refreshing) and that they mix up the combination of performers in the show as well.
There are people who really stand out in Party Pilipinas for me. The girl Yassi who dances in the show is one of them. The girl just stands out whenever she performs and I was impressed to find out that she’s only in her early teens. Wow, she’s still going to grow and I’m sure she’s just going to get better with time. Apart from Yassi, there are two people that really stand out for me the most: Julie Ann San Jose and Elmo Magalona.
