Clare Henney: America's Next Top Model College Edition
America’s Next Top Model is one of my guilty pleasures. I follow the show as well as the other versions in other countries (and I can’t wait for Asia’s Next Top Model). I’m not so much into what happens with the girls behind the scenes but I do enjoy seeing all the photo shoots because the concepts are always different and the photos that they come up with are very impressive. I love being able to see the creativity that goes behind the shoots. I know it would not be good for the ratings (because it’s the usually catty behind the scenes parts that bring in the high ratings) but I’d rather see more of the creative side of this business.
Tyra Banks was told to shake up the show in this season so the judges were changed and she decided to do a college decision so that they can bring in a specific set of viewers for the show. I’m not questioning the choice of judges but I just can’t understand what Bryan Boy is doing on the show. Is he a judge because he’s a fashion blogger? I just don’t get it. He’s not exactly in the modelling or fashion industry is he? Pardon my ignorance, it’s just that I have heard of him but I don’t really know him that well. He wasn’t in the pilot episode so I don’t know what kind of judge he’ll be on the show so I guess I’ll decide on whether or not I’m happy having him on the show when I see him in action. I don’t know about everyone else but I am not feeling the girls in the show this time around. Usually I have my share of favorites during the pilot but now I don’t even know if there’s anyone I like. I found a lot of the girls catty from the start and some of them obviously have major attitude problems and I can’t wait till they get critiqued harshly be Kelly Cutrone. I’m wondering if there will be any changes with the way the show will be run (apart from the fans having their say on Facebook). I’ve watched this show for years, I hope that the changes made will really be good for the show and not something that will make this season the beginning of the end of this competition.
