Is anyone out there a fan of America’s Next Top Model?

I have been a fan of the show since the first season (or should I say cycle?). I haven’t been able to follow it as well as a big fan ought to, but lately I’ve been catching up with reruns from Jack TV. I’ve also been up-to-date with the latest cycle through ETC. I like how the show presents a bit of the fashion world and the life of a model but what I really look forward to is the presentation of photos at the end of each episode. It’s amazing how the contestants are transformed in each and every shoot and how beautiful their photographs turn out.

I know that the show has been criticized for not producing a “top model” because there hasn’t been a winner that has made it big in the modeling world in the same way that their mentor Tyra Banks has. I’ve done a bit of research and while a lot of the winners and girls who have made it on the show still model, no one has (to my knowledge) done any big fashion shows or has modeled for a famous fashion house. No one has become an actual “top” model.

There have been many contestants who stood out for me who did not win the competition. I think it was those personalities that made watching every cycle interesting. I’ve wondered what some of those girls have been doing after the show and luckily for me, I have a whole new cycle of ANTM to look forward to that will feature some of my old favorites from previous ones with the Top Model All Stars Cycle. Here’s a list of the girls in the all-star cycle:

Laura Kirkpatrick (Cycle 13 – 2nd)

Angelea Preston (Cycle 14 – 4th)

Kayla Ferrel (Cycle 15 – 4th)

Alexandria Everett (Cycle 16 – 4th)

When I first heard of the cast, I wondered why there were no girls from Seasons 3, 7 & 8. I think it would have been nice if every cycle was represented.  Hmm, maybe more of them are getting jobs as models than I thought! I’m not too familiar with some of the girls on the list even if I did watch their cycles back in the day. I guess they just weren’t memorable enough for me. I briefly remember Isis but that’s because she’s transgendered. I heard Tyra helped her with her operation after her stint in the show. I also remember Bianca, Allison, Angelea, Dominique and Alexandria from their respective cycles. There are also some personal favorites like Laura and Kayla who I’m looking forward to seeing again in this all-star cycle. Too bad some of my old favorites aren’t included but who knows, this might be the first of a series of all-star cycles if the rumors are true they’re trying to switch up the show.

With most of the girls being former frontrunners and there being a good mix of hero and villain types in the cycle, I’m sure this will be an interesting competition to watch and I am looking forward to it. I hope that ETC can have a match airing of this so that I can be up to date with it! Paging ETC!!!
