Cannot Get Enough | Clare

If you asked me when I was younger if I would ever be a fan of country music, I’d probably say never. These days, however, it’s a genre I enjoy listening to.

One album that gets constant replays on my Spotify account is Sam Hunt’s Between the Pines Acoustic Mixtape. I became a fan of Sam Hunt when I first heard his song Take Your Time and I’ve been listening to his music since then.

Between the Pines, from what I’ve read online, is a free album that Sam Hunt released in 2013 with songs that were later re-released as part of his album Montevallo or as songs performed by other artists.

Being an acoustic album, there is a raw feel to the songs. When I listen to it I feel like I’m hanging out with Sam Hunt somewhere as he plays his guitar to pass the time. Actually, it is this album makes me feel like it would be fun to sit and listen to him play music — not like anyone here in the Philippines would ever consider bringing him over for a concert but still, it would be fun for sure.

It is hard to choose a favorite among the songs in this album. Every song feels like a sincere story about the songwriter/singer’s life that you can’t help but listen to. Still, there are songs that stand out.

Raised on It and House Party feel like songs you can sing along to while having a few drinks with friends. Swoon-worthy songs include Make You Miss Me and I Met a Girl. You want a heartbreak song? Try listening to Goodbye and Come Over.

Those songs aside, the ones that get the most plays for me are Cop Car and Speakers — they have the feel of one of my favorite country songs, Play it Again by Luke Bryan (which gives me the kilig feels every time I listen to it).

I wish I could have the opportunity to watch a Sam Smith concert one day…or better yet, to catch an acoustic set of his somewhere (if he were ever to have one). I’m sure that would be a memorable experience!
