Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man | Clare

Have any of you ever heard of Steve Harvey? The guy is an actor, comedian and radio personality. I remember him from the movie You Got Served, where he played the guy who ran the underground dance-offs.

I saw him on an episode of Oprah where he was taking questions from women about their relationship with men to promote his book called Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man. The book isn’t really anything new since there have been similar relationship advice themed books like Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus and He’s Just Not That Into You but I just liked this guy’s opinions on the show so much that I want a copy of that particular Oprah episode.

The guy is just so funny and calls it like it is – it’s just like talking to a guy friend about your relationship and he tells you what he thinks over a bottle of beer (only he’s going to crack you up while he’s talking). He does have a point with the things he says – although I’m afraid that having a book with advice on what women should look out for to get a good guy would be used by players to pretend to be these good guys so I don’t see the point.

Still, there are some bits of what Steve Harvey said that I liked such as:

1. Real Men are not afraid of standards and requirements.
2. You cannot run a real man off.
3. God will not create a soul mate for you and not allow you to meet him.
4. You can never lower your standard. The moment we see that we seize it.
5. Showing your impatience will look like desperation.

I don’t know if I’d buy his book, but I’d love to watch more of him answering questions like he did on Oprah just so I could have a good laugh.
